Privacy policy

• Your account. When you sign up: your email address and a password, or, if you continue with Google, the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us. The same account signs you in to the desktop app.
• Download details. Before your first download we ask for your full name and phone number, so we know who uses m8rix and can contact you about it.
• Download records. When you download the app we record your account ID, the platform (Mac or Windows), the version and the time.
• Contact form. What you type in: name, work email, company, role, message and instruments.
• Server logs. Like most websites, our server logs each request: your IP address, browser, the page requested and the time. We use these to keep the site running and secure.
• AI requests from the desktop app. When you use the app's AI assistant, your question and the lab context it needs (for example instrument settings, test steps or measurements) are sent to an AI model provider to produce the answer. See “Who we share it with”.

Your lab data (instruments, experiments, results, firmware projects and wiring) is stored on your own computer by the desktop app. We do not upload it to our servers. Neither the site nor the app uses advertising or analytics trackers.

• To create your account and sign you in, on the site and in the app.
• To give you the installers, and to stop abuse of downloads (links expire after 5 minutes, and each account has an hourly limit).
• To answer you when you contact us, and to tell you about m8rix, such as updates to the app. You can ask us to stop at any time.
• To keep the site, the download service and the app secure and working.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

We use a few service providers to run m8rix. They process data on our behalf, only for the services below:

• Clerk: accounts and sign-in (your email, password, name, phone and Google profile are stored there).
• Google: only if you choose “Continue with Google”.
• Amazon Web Services: hosts this site, the download service and the installers, in Mumbai.
• Formspree: receives contact form messages.
• AI model providers: the app's assistant uses Groq by default. If you add your own key for Groq, OpenRouter, Google Gemini or OpenAI, requests go to that provider under your own agreement with them.

Some of these providers store or process data outside India, including in the United States. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

We keep your account and download details for as long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete them. Contact form messages are kept while we are in touch with you, and server and download logs for a limited time for security. We may keep some data longer where the law requires it.

Sign-in uses cookies from Clerk to keep you signed in. They are needed for your account to work. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

You can ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, to correct or complete it, or to delete it, and you can withdraw consent you have given us. Write to tech@m8rix.one from the email address on your account, and we will reply as soon as we can. You can also name someone to exercise these rights on your behalf. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are handled by Clerk and never stored by us. Installers are in private storage and only handed out through short-lived links to signed-in users. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects it.

m8rix is a tool for engineers and is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect their data.

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it applies.
